On Thursday, January 30th, 2025, under the auspices of His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak, the Archdiocese Committee Team (ACT) hosted an Appreciation Dinner to honor and celebrate the many parish members who selflessly dedicate their time, efforts, and generous support to our beloved Archdiocese. The evening began with our esteemed MC, Mr. Riyad Rachko, warmly welcoming all in attendance. His Eminence Mor Andrawos Bahhi opened the gathering with a prayer, offering thanks to our Lord and prayed for blessings upon all present. A moment of recognition was given by Mr. Jack Hannawi, the former president of the AEC, who acknowledged the dedication, hard work and commitment of those who have supported the Archdiocese from the beginning of the purchase of the Mor Aphrem Center (MAC) to the fulfillment of its financial obligations. Following him, the newly appointed ACT president, Mr. Jack Gabriel, spoke about embarking on a new chapter one centered on strengthening families and deepening our service to God.
His Eminence Mor Dionysius John Kawak then addressed the gathering with profound gratitude, expressing his appreciation for all those who contribute to the life and mission of the Archdiocese, including those who could not be present that evening. He also took a moment to honor the memory of those who have departed, whose sacrifices, prayers, and unwavering commitment laid the foundation upon which we continue to build. Reflecting on his time serving this blessed Archdiocese, His Eminence shared his deep sense of honor in leading such a devoted and faithful community. He praised all of the parishioners for their steadfast commitment to God, their love for our holy Syriac Orthodox Church, and language, and their dedication to the Word of God, which remains a guiding light in their lives.
Taking a special moment to acknowledge the presence of His Eminence Mor Andrawos Bahhi, he emphasized the vital role of our youth in the Church. He recognized the spiritual potential they carry and the responsibility of the community to nurture and guide them. His Eminence also introduced and welcomed the new Youth Minister, Shamosho Joseph Shammas (soon to be Abuna Joseph), who brings enthusiasm and a vision to empower the younger generation in their faith and leadership within the Church. In closing, His Eminence gave thanks to God for the abundant blessings He has poured upon this community and prayed for continued guidance, unity, and service in the Lord’s name. He then thanked our Patriarch His Holiness Mor Ignatius Aphrem II for His tireless efforts and vision that have been instrumental in strengthening our Archdiocese and in establishing significant initiatives that preserve our faith, heritage, and traditions. He reminded everyone of Christ’s words: “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20)
The evening concluded with a token of appreciation presented to each honoree a plaque featuring Mor Aphrem the Syriac, symbolizing gratitude and recognition for their commitment to the Church. May we continue to work together in faith, love, and service, building a community that reflects Christ’s light and hope for generations to come.
